Discount Suit Company, neatly hidden through and behind between the various stalls of Petticoat Lane market. We visit there on a Sunday evening, when the market was closing up and the area was looking a little bit deserted.
Heading down the stairs to the basement, it’s quite a clandestine venue as there’s no signage on the door (though if you look up at the building itself, there’s more obvious signage).
The venue is very much in tune with it’s heritage as a discount suit factory/warehouse/tailors. There are small touches here and there, such as stock drawers, mannequins and clothing labels. The interior is very stripped back with exposed brick and low ceilings (tall people beware).
We hadn’t booked a table, and were able to sit on some stools opposite the bar and look at the menu. Cocktails at Discount Suit Co are priced at around £8-9 (at time of writing). The menus are small but detailed, bar staff are very friendly, taking the time to talk through the cocktails.
If you’re a little bit peckish there is a small (very small) selection of the usual bar snacks to accompany the cocktails.
If you’re looking for somewhere a little off the beaten track, this a good place, but try to get there early as it can get extremely packed later on.
