Ferrero Rocher: Behind the Layers

Located at Westfield London (Shepherds Bush), the Ferrero Rocher pop up shop is a black and gold sight to behold. The shop is set over two floors with a lovely Ferrero Rocher shop area, lounge and pop up bar on the ground floor. For those taking part in the ‘Behind the Layers’ experience, you get whisked upstairs.

Tickets are on offer through the website Behind the Layers, but dates/times were almost gone. Luckily, I managed to grab some at a more suitable date/time via TimeOut.

The premise is straightforward, explore through the medium of desserts, the different layers that make up a Ferrero Rocher. The experience involves tasting the different elements singularly while enjoying the light and sound show.

Upon arrival we were directed upstairs to the lounge area to wait, and welcomed with a glass of Prosecco and some Ferrero Rochers to snack on (of course). After all guests arrived, we were escorted through a glowing and sparkly golden corridor into the tasting room.

The chef designed miniature deserts each inspired by a layer of Ferrero Rocher: hazelnut, chocolate, crisp wafer, hazelnut pieces or sparkling gold (the wrapper). The innovative desserts included hazelnut praline fondue, amaretti biscuits, praline fondue, and an ice-cream treat, all to bring out the wonderful flavours. All the while, we are also  being topped up with Prosecco. The fizz brings another element to the Ferrero tasting!

Before we knew it the experience was finished (it’s only 45 minutes), I would have loved to try a few more things. On departing we were given a Ferrero Rocher tree decoration as a souvenir, and more Ferrero Rocher to take home and eat!

Even without the tasting session, if you are getting some Christmas shopping, definitely pop along and take a little break. There’s an opportunity to buy some of your own little golden balls, get personalised gift boxes, and an amazing set of Ferrero inspired cocktails on offer. Be quick, the shop is only open till the December 17, 2017.
