Last month we attended the MOMA: Making Oats More Awesome ‘Oat Cuisine Experience’ in Soho Square. MOMA is a brand, focusing on a variety of oats to porridge based products for consumers to enjoy.
The pop-up was primarily to highlight the launch of their new gluten-free jumbo oats.
MOMA had created an 8 course tasting menu with oat-based dishes. That’s right: starters, mains and desserts all based on simple oats. It was a unique idea and I was intrigued as soon as I read the description. We luckily managed to grab the bargain £4 tickets (with proceeds going to charity) which included all the food and drinks as well.
Oattie & seed cracker bread with rainbow crudites and a trio of dips
Coconut & butternut soup served with savoury granola
Asparagus & Baby Pea Oat Risotto with a Tomato Salad
Miso baked aubergine with sesame oat crumble
Beetroot & feta oat burger with a sweet relish
Baked peaches with a cinnamon oat amaretti crumble, Oattie date lemon cheesecake and Raspberry and chocolate tart
We were most impressed by the different ways in which the oats were incorporate into both sweet and savoury dishes.
We also got to meet the lovely creator of MOMA, Tom Mercer, who spent some time with all guests discussing the origins of MOMA from the early days in Waterloo station, to being in supermarkets and shops all over the UK.
After our very filling meal we got to take a home some MOMA goodies and a few recipe cards to allow us to create the dishes at home.
