Symphony of the Senses

Over the first weekend of February, Royal Caribbean was promoting it’s newest ship setting sail in 2018, the Symphony of Seas. To celebrate, they created an impressive immersive pop-up experience to give the public a taste of what life on board the ship would be like.

The event was held at Victoria House, Holborn and even upon entering the reception, there was a ‘travel agency’ feel to it. As if you were really planning to book a cruise somewhere. On arrival, we were corralled into groups of 6, and before entry, we were encourage to don silly hats, glasses and inflatables to take a ‘holiday photo’.

We walked down a neon lit stairway, which apparently represents a large slide on the ship, before making our way to the family suite. There are family suites on the Symphony of the Seas, that have their own in-suite slide, so they created a slide which sunk us into a ball pit. This ball pit actually represented that balcony whirpool that some rooms have (I really want to get on this ship!).

From enjoying the whirpool, we were then transported to the jungle with a adventurer and after that strait onto Mexico to eat some nachos and guacamole.

The final rooms involved us being briefly recruited to join ‘Tracy’ from ‘Hairspray’ and practice our dance moves ready for our performance, and then answering riddles posed by the Sugar Beach Fairy so that we could get our sweet treats!

A very impressive pop-up experience that is really tempting me onto the ship!
